Ashraf Almasri is a seasoned tax professional with over 18 years of expertise in zakat and tax compliance, tax advisory, and dispute resolution, including international tax across Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the broader Middle East region. His deep technical expertise and strategic insight enable him to navigate complex tax landscapes and provide tailored solutions to businesses operating in diverse sectors.
His industry exposure spans industrial, trading, hospitality, construction, and telecommunications. Ashraf has collaborated with leading brands and multinational clients, providing expert guidance on zakat and tax compliance, capital gains tax, double tax treaties, withholding tax, and other related tax matters.
A key aspect of his expertise lies in tax dispute resolution. Ashraf has successfully represented clients by submitting objections and escalating cases to tax committees, where he has played a pivotal role in securing new and precedent-setting decisions. His notable achievements include resolving complex issues related to capital gains on inheritance and other high-impact zakat and tax cases.
Before joining Grant Thornton, Ashraf worked with Deloitte and GSTC in Saudi Arabia and the Tax Department in Jordan, where he served as the primary contact for zakat and tax compliance. During his tenure at GSTC, he was instrumental in establishing and developing the General Secretariat of Tax Committees, contributing to its operational framework, administrative systems, and procedural regulations. His responsibilities included supporting appellate chambers in dispute resolution, providing expert accounting insights, and advising on tax and zakat laws and regulations in Saudi Arabia.
