Saleem is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in assurance, advisory, taxation, and compliance. As a Principal in Grant Thornton Saudi Arabia’s Assurance and advisory practice, he has been instrumental in leading engagements for listed clients, including insurance companies and those reporting under IFRS. Since joining Grant Thornton Saudi Arabia in 2015 as a Director, he has successfully led IFRS conversion engagements and played a key role in enhancing the firm’s quality, risk, and compliance framework.
Saleem began his career in 1994 with Grant Thornton Pakistan, where he served as a signing partner for over seven years. His extensive experience includes statutory audits, internal audits, financial due diligence, and tax advisory for businesses across diverse sectors such as financial services, insurance, asset management, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, aviation, and telecommunications. He has also worked closely with regulatory authorities, including the State Bank, Board of Investment, and Securities and Exchange Commission.
In Saudi Arabia, Saleem's experience spans listed insurance companies, telecommunications, contracting, manufacturing, and services industries. He currently serves as the Head of Quality, Risk, and Compliance, leading the implementation of ISQM 1 within the firm and ensuring adherence to the highest professional standards.
His longstanding association with Grant Thornton has provided him with a deep understanding of the firm’s global audit methodology, tools, and culture. He has played a key role in implementing GT LEAP audit methodology and tools in the region. Additionally, he has contributed to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) as a committee member on Insurance, Auditing Standards, and Technical Advisory Committees.
